Regional Arts Australia is the key national body representing the broad and complex interests and concerns of those working with and for the arts in regional, rural and remote Australia.
As an advocate, Regional Arts Australia has achieved significant results over the last three years in winning better recognition and support for the enormous contribution that regional arts make to the cultural, economic and social wellbeing of the nation.
As a project initiator and manager, Regional Arts Australia has become an important partner in equipping regional artists, artsworkers and communities to meet the special needs and challenges that accompany arts practice, arts promotion and audience development in the regional and rural sectors.
Arts Australia employs an Executive Director and Project Officer and
engages consultants as needed. Regional Arts Australia funds its
administrative activities through income received from membership fees
and the leasing out of a Canberra property (Arts House) in which it has
an interest. This independent income allows the organisation to
maximise the effective application of project funds that it
administers. The organisation receives no public funding for its
Regional Arts Australia has set a number of important goals for achievement over the next two years. Strong progress has already been made towards achieving a number of these.
Regional Arts Australia is the modern guise of The Arts Council of Australia, a long-standing collaborative forum of bodies involved in regional arts.

Regional Arts Australia has as its Directors the Chief Executive Officers and Chairs of the major regional arts agencies operating in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia. The Northern Territory Department of Natural Resources, Environment and the Arts is also represented.
