Partnership with SBS

Regional Arts Australia and SBS Corporation have worked in partnership, along with Skoda, to produce a series of vignettes that showcase the breadth of arts in regional Australia, on the eve of the launch of the SBS Network's split regional coverage.

The eight vignettes have been filmed across the country, each one depicting a fascinating story from Regional Arts Australia's 2008 book

Big Story Country:

The eight vignettes have been filmed across the country, each one depicting a fascinating story from Regional Arts Australia's 2008 book Big story country: great arts stories from regional Australia, written from conversations with Moya Sayer-JonesBig Story Country was produced with the support of the Regional Arts Fund, an Australian Government initiative and the Australia Council for the Arts.

Production of the vignettes coincides with SBS's decision to split its advertising signal in regional markets.  The broadcaster will offer 12 distinct regional and metorpolitan "short break" streams within the broadcaster's consistent national programming schedule.

The vignettes will appear on rotating schedules across all regional markets from May 2009, underscording the vibrancy and diversity of the featured artists.

Production of the vignettes was directed by James Ashburn of Lucious Motion, with backing scores provided by one of Australia’s leading music production houses, Song Zu.
